Kent State field hockey won the Mid-American Conference Tournament Saturday in double overtime at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.

The Chippewas, who finished the season sixth in the conference (2-15, 2-4 MAC), did not qualify for the four-team tournament after winning the 2014 MAC Regular Season Championship and falling in the semi-final game last season in Kent, Ohio.

The Golden Flashes beat Ohio on Friday in Mount Pleasant to advance to Saturday's championship game, where they defeated the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks 3-2. They now advance to the NCAA Tournament to face UMass.

The MAC Championships rotate between campuses every year for most conference sports. CMU hosted the cross country and track and field MAC Championships during the 2014-2015 season.
