Feb. 21

Robinson Hall staff called police to report the smell of marijuana in the building. A small amount was found in the possession of an 18 year-old man. The incident was forwarded to the Office of Student Conduct.

CMUPD received a report that a package containing marijuana wax was mailed with a return address for Robinson Hall. Police went to check with the residents of the return address, but did not receive a response. Lt. Cameron Wassman said the incident is being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

A 29 year-old man was arrested by CMUPD for operating under the influence of liquor on West Campus Drive near Preston Street. The man was driving when he pulled off the road quickly. The driver failed a breathalyzer test given after the officer smelled alcohol on his breath.

A 24 year-old Mount Pleasant man was taken into police custody Sunday morning after attempting to hit another individual at a party on South University Street. Mount Pleasant Police said about 100 people were in attendance. The owner was cited for hosting a nuisance party.

CMU Police arrived at Kewadin Apartments on Sunday morning to find an 18 year-old who was intoxicated, knocking on doors and not wearing pants. Police found his pants and his wallet nearby. The man refused to cooperate and was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Feb. 20

Cobb Hall staff called police after smelling marijuana in the building. Police found 20 grams in the possession of two 18 year-old students, one male and one female. Neither individual was arrested, but the incident was forwarded to the county prosecutor.

A state trooper in Flint arrested a 26 year-old man Saturday afternoon with a warrant for his arrest from CMUPD. The man was wanted for failure to appear on fraud charges. Wassman said the man is a former CMU student who is wanted for at least $3,000 in bad checks dating as far back as 2008. He said the suspect has been arrested multiple times, after which he pays the least amount necessary to leave jail before disappearing again. The warrant he was arrested under is from Sept. 2013.

Feb. 19

CMU Police provided assistance to the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department Friday night. Wassman said a 25 year-old woman was found not breathing and with no pulse at Timber Creek Apartments. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death.

Staff at Troutman Hall detected the odor of marijuana and called police. Two joints were found in the possession of two 18 year-old men. The incident was forwarded to the Office of Student Conduct.

Feb. 18

A 19 year-old male resident in Campbell Hall received a package Thursday containing ecstasy. The incident is being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspector’s service. The return address belonged to an unspecified commercial building in Florida.

Feb. 17

CMUPD and the Mount Pleasant Fire Department arrived at Dow Science Building after equipment left unattended overheated, filling the room with smoke. The building was ventilated. No injuries were reported and no damage was caused by the accident.

CMU Police arrested a 35-year-old man with a warrant for his arrest from the Rockford Police Department. The suspect was wanted for a domestic violence charges. He is an employee for a private company hired by CMU. Wassman declined to say what company he worked for.

A 24 year-old Pinkney man was arrested at O’Kelly’s Sports Bar and Grill on Wednesday after midnight. The man was highly intoxicated and accused of trying to start a fight with bouncers.

Feb. 15

A 19-year-old woman was transported to McLaren Central-Michigan after cutting herself on the arm in an apparent suicide attempt.

Two larcenies involving a motor vehicle were reported Monday. A 24 year-old Casanovia woman found the tail-light cover missing from her car. A 24 year-old McBain woman also reported that her passenger side tail-light cover had been removed. The trunk had been opened and the wires cut in order to remove the cover.

Rowe Hall staff called police after two men, estimated to be between the ages of 16 and 20, attempted to remove a donation cart from the Museum of Cultural and Natural History located in the building. Staff members confronted the men, who left without taking anything.
