B's Music Shop employee accused of embezzlement

A Mount Pleasant woman has been arraigned on charges of embezzlement and using a computer to commit a crime after a complaint was filed by B's Music Shop.

Sara Jamison, 25, was an employee at the shop and is accused of stealing money. The manager of the store told police she had taken nearly $5,000 during a 10-week period.

On March 18, police interviewed Jamison about the accusations. She admitted to manipulating the computer system to defraud the business and take money.

Sentences for embezzlement in Michigan vary. If found guilty, the person would be charged with a misdemeanor by imprisonment for a variety of lengths. The fine would be three times the value of the money embezzled, or a fine determined by the court, whichever is greater.

Jamison will appear in court on March 31 for a probable cause hearing. At her arraignment, her bond was set at 10 percent of $50,000.
