A 26-year-old Mount Pleasant man is in jail after attempting to flee from police on his moped.

At about 9 p.m. on April 13, a patrol officer on Oak Street observed the man riding incorrectly on the moped, which did not have the proper registration sticker.

The officer attempted to pull the driver over, but the man instead accelerated down Pine Street. A short pursuit for the man followed, until he reached a cul-de-sac on Locust Street and was met with train tracks. The man proceeded to lose control of his moped and continue to flee on foot.

He was caught by the officer in Mill Pond Park.

The man is housed at the Isabella County Jail and will be arraigned on charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing and driving with a suspended license.

The incident has been turned over to the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal police.
