Sheriff's department handles multiple accidents on icy roads

During a two-hour period today, the Isabella County Sheriff's Department responded to nine property damage accidents, two personal injury accidents and one car in a ditch.

Since 7 a.m., roads in Isabella County have been covered by snow and ice.

The department reminds drivers that road conditions are hazardous, and to monitor conditions so destinations are reached safely. 

According to the National Weather Service, Mount Pleasant is expected to get rain and sleet this afternoon, followed by an 80 percent chance of snow tonight. Tomorrow there is a 30 percent chance of snow showers.
