On Sept. 27, Central Michigan University’s College of Medicine hired a new Director of Marketing and Communications.

Jennifer Churchill is from Montcalm county and has 20 years of experience in public relations. She graduated with an M.A. from Michigan State University and has worked at the Lansing State Journal, founded the Ionia-Montcalm Magazine and was the President of Churchill Public Relations in California.

She decided to move back to Michigan so her 2 year old would be able to grow up near family.

“I made the decision that I only wanted to move for a job that I could feel passionate about,” said Churchill. “This is no lie — this is the only job that I applied for.”

She said that the position had been vacant for several months and that she’s been busy trying to catch up.

“I love it and it’s been very, very busy,” she said. “I get to jump in after everyone’s put in a lot of hard work and I get to be here for the exciting finale — the first class (graduation).

I really, truly, believe in the mission. I think it’s incredible to focus on getting physicians out into rural areas. I’m from a rural area so it speaks to me and that makes it enjoyable.”
