Heffernan named MAC Wrestler of the Week
Junior Colin Heffernan was dubbed the Mid-American Conference's Wrestler of the Week on Wednesday for his performance at Central Michigan's dual-meet win against Virginia last Sunday.
At 157 pounds, Heffernan defeated Virginia's Andrew Atkinson, who is currently ranked 23rd nationally in the 157 pounds weight class by the NCAA Wrestling Coaches' Panel.
The win Sunday raised Heffernan's record to 6-0 on the season. The Chippewas beat Virginia by a team score of 22-10.
CMU wrestling is scheduled to participate in the Michigan State Open on Sunday.
