Senior defensive end Joe Ostman has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division's Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in Central Michigan football's 27-20 victory against Ohio.

The St. Ignace native led the Chippewas' defense with two sacks and compiled eight tackles, three of which were for a loss.

Ostman's second sack came during Ohio's final drive of the game, tackling the Bobcat's quarterback for a loss of eight yards on third down.

CMU came away with the game-clinching interception in its own red zone on the next play, earning bowl eligibility for the third straight season.

The Chippewas will play their final regular season game at Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. It will be televised on ESPN2.
