Crime log shows attempted, successful break-ins


Two separate incidents involving break-ins occurred last week.  

Jan. 16

  • A 19-year-old female in Wheeler Hall contacted Central Michigan University Police stating she didn’t want her boyfriend in her dorm room. When officers arrived they spoke with the 18-year-old man and determined he had violated parole by being in close proximity to his alleged girlfriend. The suspect was also in possession of a wine bottle. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Jan. 18

  • Officers assisted the  Isabella County Sheriff Department with a domestic violence incident located at a residence in Pleasant Ridge Estates Mobile Home Park. The 31-year-old male suspect had a civil warrant for neglect of a child, and was arrested and taken into custody.
  •  An 18-year-old man admitted to selling marijuana, after police searched his dorm room at Calkins Hall. Officers found 40 grams of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail.

Jan. 20

  • A medical emergency was reported at Calkins Hall after a female student consumed a brownie containing marijuana. Officers found the suspect in her room suffering from nausea and a rapid heart rate. The incident was turned over to the Office of Student Conduct.

Jan. 21

  • Officers found two subjects attempting to enter Kelly/Shorts Stadium at 1:30 in the morning. The 18 and 17-year-old male suspects admitted to alcohol consumption and one suspect was found in possession of alcohol. The two received minor in possession tickets.
  • Officers found a small amount of marijuana, rolling papers and paraphernalia in a Herrig Hall dorm room. The room belonged to two 21-year-old women and the case has been turned over to the Office of Student Conduct.

Jan. 22

  • A 20-year-old CMU student broke into Central Michigan University’s Global Campus Building at roughly 2 a.m. Only wearing a T-shirt and boxer shorts, the man called 911 saying he was cold. The student had a blood alcohol content rating of 0.14 and said he could not remember how he got into the building. The student was taken into custody.
