Health issues for CMU Carter Ballinger to leave wrestling team
Central Michigan wrestler Carter Ballinger step away from the team in January due to injury concerns.
“That’s a personal decision for Carter” said head coach Tom Borrelli. “He had some health issues that kept him from competing the way he wanted to. I understand his decision.”
Ballinger was reached for comment but did not immediately respond.
The junior compiled a 30-18 record in two seasons with the Chippewas, and led CMU in pins with six during the 2014-15 season.
Ballinger was a standout at Jonesville High School, going 47-1 his senior season while winning a Division IV state championship at 130 pounds.
