Threads Fashion Show exceeds $200 goal at Trivia Night Fundraiser

Threads Fashion Show raised $217 at their Trivia Night fundraiser on Monday night at Hunter's Ale House.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the production of the 2017 Threads Fashion Show, to be held on April 22. Trivia Night is the first fundraiser that Threads has held this year, said Lansing senior Camry Gilson, a Threads committee member.

Hunter’s Ale House holds weekly trivia nights, and will occasionally let student organizations co-host the events. The admission price for Threads’ trivia night was $2 for anybody over the age of 21 and $5 for anyone younger than 21. Additional donations of $3 unlocked drink specials at Hunters’ bar.

Twelve teams competed during the event, with the winner receiving a gift basket containing more than $300 worth of gift cards and hair products. The prizes were donations Threads received from local businesses, including five $10 gift cards for the Dreamer Coffee Shop, a $15 gift certificate from Art Reach and a $10 gift card for the Gourmet Cupcake shop.

The trivia game consisted of 30 questions between six categories: music, pop culture, throwback culture, sports, CMU history and fashion.

The first place prize went to the team “Gaylord Street Sausages.” Their team name was originally “Gaylord Street Savages,” but they changed it after a trivia night judge misread it, and they thought the misreading produced a funnier, more memorable name.

Members of the team regularly attend trivia nights at Hunter’s Ale House, and they wanted to support their friend, Threads committee member Angie Cook, said “Sausage” team member Brenna Wright, a senior from Canton.

“We always try to study before trivia night,” she said. “We don’t win often, but tonight was great.”
