Student caught with cocaine, weed in Wayside parking lot

A Central Michigan University student was caught with twenty-six grams of marijuana and a gram of cocaine on Jan. 24 in the Wayside Central parking lot.

Officers observed 18-year-old Kameron Louth enter his vehicle and remain seated for an extended period of time.

An officer approached the vehicle, saw Louth holding alcohol and a plastic bag containing an unknown substance and smelled the odor of marijuana, according to the press release from the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Louth initially refused to exit the vehicle. After some time, he exited the vehicle and struggled with the officer. The student was then taken into custody.

Following Louth's arrest, the officer determined that the plastic bag contained one gram of cocaine. He also searched Louth’s backpack and found twenty-six grams of marijuana and one gram of marijuana wax, according to the press release.

Louth was taken to the Isabella County Jail for narcotics possession and violating his parole. He was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance – a second offense notice – delivering and manufacturing, resisting and obstructing, possession of marijuana and open intoxication. His bond was set at 10 percent of $30,000.

Louth studies sports medicine and athletic training at CMU.
