Wrestling travels to Wisconsin for last dual meet of regular season

After nearly sweeping Kent State on Senior Day last Sunday, the Central Michigan wrestling team looks to extend their win streak to seven on Sunday against Wisconsin.

Wisconsin comes into matchup ranked No. 18 team in the country. The Badgers are on a three-match win streak and have a record of 6-5 in dual meets this season following their recent eight-win performance against Michigan State on Friday night.

CMU is on a six-match win streak that started on Jan. 27 against Old Dominion. Currently, the Chippewas are ranked No. 14 team — four spots above Wisconsin.

"I think it will be a fun match for us," said head coach Tom Borrelli. "It will be a lot like the Michigan match — very competitive and back-and-forth."

The reigning Central Michigan Life Athlete of the Week Justin Oliver comes into the match with a record of 26-5 this season. In the last dual against Kent State, Oliver pinned his opponent.

"We have some individual matches in this dual meet that are very important from a seeding perspective," Borrelli said. "Not only in the MAC Tournament but also in the national (NCAA) tournament and even from a qualifying perspective."

This is CMU's last dual meet before the Mid-American Conference Tournament which takes place March 4-5.
