Six athletes to be inducted into Marcy Weston Hall of Fame


Six former Central Michigan University athletes will be inducted into the Marcy Weston Hall of Fame during a ceremony at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 at McGuirk Arena.

The alumni represent a wide variety of athletic departments across CMU. The inductees will be introduced during the CMU-Miami football game Sept. 23, at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

The Class of 2017 inductees include:

  • Dan Bazuin: A football player, Bazuin completed his career at CMU in 2006 by leading the Chippewas to the Mid-American Conference championship, and a 31-14 win over Middle Tennessee in the Motor City Bowl. In 2005, Bazuin became the second Chippewa to be named MAC Defensive Player of the Year. He was named Academic All-America in 2006, named twice for Academic All-District and was a three-time Academic All-MAC pick. Bazuin was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft.
  • Wendy Feldman: A member of CMU's volleyball program, Feldman set a conference record by leading the MAC in kills-per-game in both 1997 and 1998. She was named on the All-MAC First Team in 1998, on the second team in 1997, and received an honorable mention in 1996. In a 1997, Feldman recorded 37 kills, the fourth-highest total in MAC history. She ranks first in program history with 3,228 career attacks, and second in kills with 1,374. She also ranks in the top five in CMU history for career block solos, block assists and total blocks.
  • Toby Kominek: A third baseman for CMU's baseball program, Kominek earned First Team All-America honors and the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Award in 1995. He earned Academic All-MAC honors in 1995. He ranks seventh in program history with 26 career home runs and sixth in extra-base hits, with 61. Kominek was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth round of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft. 
  • Jacquie Lacek: A soccer player, Lacek holds the CMU record for goals, with three, and points, with seven, in a single game. She was named on the MAC All-Freshman Team in 2003, All-MAC Second Team in both 2004 and 2005, and in earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team in 2006. Lacek was named to both the Academic All-District First Team and to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar-Athlete Second Team twice.
  • Jason Mester: A wrestler, Mester was named All-American champion twice and Mid-American Conference champion three times during his Chippewa career between 2000 and 2004. He ranks seventh in program history with 104 career victories. In 2001, Mester was named MAC Freshman of the Year, and Wrestler of the Year in 2004 .
  • Erica Takach: A midfielder in CMU's field hockey program, Takach was named to the All-Mid-American Conference team for two consecutive years, and led the team to the MAC Tournament title in 2005. Takach ended her career after appearing in 80 games, starting in of them, and scoring 21 goals.
