Central Michigan University announced Sept. 5 David Patton will serve as acting associate dean of the College of Science and Engineering.

Patton, interim associate vice president of enrollment management, started his position Sept. 1 and will serve in the position until June 30, 2019.

One of CMU’s first senior administrative fellows, Patton worked in the department of Enrollment and Student Services for the past two years.

A former chair of CMU’s geography department, Patton said his first passion and commitment is to academics.

“Returning to the college, I’ll bring greater appreciation of enrollment management and student services at the university level,” he stated in the release. “I look forward to using that experience to help move the college forward.”

Patton is filling in for Jane Matty. She was appointed acting dean of the college in place of Ian Davison, who received a two-year appointment as senior vice provost for academic reorganization initiative as CMU embarks on its 2017-2022 strategic plan.
