Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post dispatched troopers to Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital to assist with a 41-year-old reed city man who was disorderly, on February 10 at 5:20 p.m.

The man, who is a registered sex offender, was believed to be under the influence of Methamphetamine at the time of the incident. He reportedly exposed himself to the hospital staff before forcibly removing his IV and medical equipment.

An emergency room doctor made contact with the man, who then pulled out a folding style pocket knife and waved it around in a threatening manner at the doctor, and two other staff members.

The man then fled the hospital on foot and was running Northbound on 220 Ave. when troopers found him. He ignored numerous verbal commands to stop, and kept running until he was eventually cornered on the west shoulder of 220 Ave.

With the assistance on scene of the Osceola County Sheriff's Department, the suspect was then taken into custody, and the pocket knife was recovered from the man after his arrest.

The suspect was lodged in Osceola County Jail for charges of felonious assault, although more charges are expected. He is set for arraignment on Feb. 12.
