Brettell earns MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week honors

Following the first complete game of his career in an 8-1 victory over Northern Illinois on March 23, Central Michigan junior right-hander pitcher Michael Brettell has been named the co-Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week. 

In the defeat over the Huskies, Brettell allowed five walks and three hits while striking out six batters. The performance was in game two of a doubleheader on Friday. 

From Fonthill, Ontario, Brettell is 2-3 on the season with a 5.15 ERA. He has tossed in six games and 36.2 innings, allowing six doubles, three triples and three home runs. Brettell has stuck out 31 hitters this season. 

The other co-MAC Pitcher of the Week was Bowling Green’s Kody Brown, who earned a win and two saves in three relief appearances against Dayton and Ohio this week. 

The Chippewas (7-16-1, 2-1 MAC) have won five of their last six games.
