The Herbert H. & Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions will hold its first-ever Research Day to highlight the research being done by students within the college.

Forty posters will be displayed between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 27 in Bovee University Center rooms 218-20. Presentations on the research projects will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

“A lot of times things happen in CHP that others aren’t aware of,” said Natalie Douglas, chair of the CHP Research Committee. “We want to people to engage in a rich discussion about research.”

All of the posters will display student research, Douglas said. There will be a mix of undergraduate and graduate research. Douglas said most students have been working on these research projects for two to four semesters.

Some of the research that will be highlighted includes the effect of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on Michigan Hospitals, strategies to combat the opioid epidemic, high-intensity interval training and weight-related stigma among women.

“We’re using this event as a way to show we’re moving toward interprofessional research,” Douglas said. “We hope attendees can use this event to look for potential research collaborations.”

The event is sponsored by the College of Health Professions and the CHP Research Committee.

The event is free and open to the public. Cookies and coffee will be served.
