A 21-year-old Troy man faces first and third degree home invasion charges after breaking into a Mount Pleasant home while the owner was gaming on March 28.

Emmanuel Glass entered the house and attempted to steal speakers and a decorative flag when he walked into a room in which the homeowner was playing video games, said Mount Pleasant Police Department Officer Jeff Browne. When the homeowner confronted Glass and asked what he was doing in the house, Glass told him that he had come to steal items from the house.

The homeowner asked Glass for his I.D., which Glass provided. Glass then announced that he was going upstairs in order to steal more items from the house. When the homeowner blocked him from going upstairs, Glass went into a bathroom.

When police arrived, Glass tried to escape through an egress window. One officer grabbed his leg while another officer present went outside to take Glass into custody. Glass was highly intoxicated and blew a 0.15 on a breathalyzer,  Browne said.

The following incidents were among those reported by the MPPD and Central Michigan Police Department from March 26 to March 30.

March 28

A 50-year-old Mount Pleasant man, Scott Alexander, faces an aggravated assault charge as well as an unlawful detainment charge after threatening his roommate and a woman with a knife on March 28.

Alexander had misplaced his phone and accused his roommate, a 32-year-old Mount Pleasant man, of stealing it. When Alexander’s roommate didn’t have his phone, Alexander went to the kitchen to retrieve a knife which he then held to the eye of a 28-year-old Mount Pleasant woman who was also present.

Alexander threatened to gouge the woman’s eye out, and then held the knife to his roommate’s chest and threatened to “gut him,” Browne said.

Alexander then trapped the two in a room. Alexander’s roommate was able to escape and call the police, while the woman escaped shortly after.

Police arrived and took Alexander into custody. He blew a 0.16 and was highly intoxicated, Browne said.

A 20-year-old Lansing man was taken into custody for trespassing after he refused to leave Wayside Central on March 28.

Staff at Wayside Central told the man several times that he needed to leave, which he refused. They called the police, who also told the man to leave when they arrived on scene.

The man continued to refuse to leave, and was taken into custody. He blew a 0.15, Browne said.

March 27

A 20-year-old woman was hit by a car driven by a 21-year-old man while crossing the street in front of the Charles V. Park Library on March 27.

The woman suffered minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital. It’s unclear if the woman was crossing at a crosswalk or not, said CMUPD Lt. Cameron Wassman.
