Senior DE Mitch Stanitzek named to All-District Team

Central Michigan defensive end Mitch Stanitzek is one of 25 football players named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Football Team, which is selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.

The District Five team, which includes Stanitzek, consists of players from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound lineman has logged 36 tackles this season, and he tied his career-high with seven tackles against Ball State on Oct. 13. Adding to his total tackles number, Stanitzek has three sacks, 6.5 tackles for a loss and one forced fumble in CMU's current 1-10 season.

In the classroom, the fifth-year senior owns a 3.74 grade point average. Finishing his bachelor of science degree with a double major in marketing and logistics, Stanitzek is currently working toward a master's degree is business administration.

Stanitzek has played in 35 games over his career, making 92 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
