The first annual Bluntfest will take place this weekend at Rubble's Bar.

While they won’t be able to hand out marijuana as originally planned, that won’t stop a variety of musical acts from celebrating the legalization of marijuana at the first annual "Bluntfest."

Bluntfest is four-band concert, with doors opening at 9 p.m. on April 13 at Rubble’s Bar. Tickets are $10 and for ages 21 and up, according to the event page on Facebook

The event was an idea from Tim Drexler, guitarist for progressive metal band From Blue to Gray, one of the bands playing at the show.

“It’s a celebration of legalization,” Drexler said. “If it’s something you support the cause of, come out and party with us.”

Drexler said there will be three other musical groups playing at the event: death-metal band Discontent, rap group Gorilla Money Entertainment and hard rock band Revolution in Progress. Both Revolution in Progress and From Blue to Gray are from Mount Pleasant.

The original plan for the event was to hand out free blunts at the show, Drexler said, but the laws about smoking marijuana in public places prevent them.
