Two bands that draw their style from rock and funk music will be playing highly-energetic music in a Mount Pleasant show.

At 9 p.m. April 26, the Michigan local bands, Trifocal and Flexadecibel, will be playing at Rubble’s Bar. This will be Trifocals first show in Mount Pleasant, while Flexadecibel is a returning act. Tickets are $5 and the event is for ages 21 and up, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Before they rock the stage at Rubble's, here is a look at the two bands that will be playing on Friday.

Trifocal

Dean Lind, bass player and vocalist of Trifocal, said Trifocal as a psychedelic funk-rock band that draws from many different music styles. These being reggae, psychedelic rock, funk, and jam bands.

The band formed in January of 2016, with Lind on bass, Adam Hastings on drums and Eric Carlstrom on guitar.

They all share the position of “singer” since they each have songs they wrote and sing on. Lind said this comes from a sence of equal status between the band.

“It’s nice to be able to pass the torch and keep it even that way,” Lind said. “The band’s name is Trifocal, so we try to keep the limelight between the three of us instead of just one person.”

Flexadecibel

The brother of Adam from Trifocal, Brad, plays trombone for the other band that is playing at Rubble's on Friday, Flexadecibel. The band has been playing live since 2015 and plays Rubble's twice each year.

The band’s sound can be described as “hard-soul” or funk-rock, Brad said. The band extracts much of their influence from classics like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and from instrumental bands like Lettuce. They utilize many instruments, including keyboards and horns. Members of Flexadecibel include:

· Marshall Sarber: Lead Vocals

· Rob Rop – Guitar

· Ryan Carpenter – Bass

· Mike Schertenlieb – Drums

· Will Jeannot – Keyboard

· Marty Christensen – Saxophone

· Bard Hastings – Trombone
