Mount Pleasant Police to host self-defense class for women

There are still spaces available for a free self-defense tactics class taking place next Saturday.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is hosting a self-defense tactics class from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 29 at the Department of Public Safety, located at 804 E. High St. The class will be in the Public Safety Building's training room.

The free course is specifically designed for women. Participants must be at least 18 years old, or be accompanied by an adult.

Those interested can register by contacting Christy Dush at cdush@mt-pleasant.org or (989) 779-5148. The registration deadline is Friday, June 21.

The course has a maximum capacity of 30 people. Dush said there were still 12 spots available as of Tuesday, June 18.
