The City of Mount Pleasant will be holding three public meetings on Thursday, Oct. 3 to present the draft for the 2050 Master Plan.

The meetings will be divided between three different presentations to different Mount Pleasant governmental bodies, according to a press release from the city. The city’s project consultant, McKenna & Associates, will be presenting the draft to all three bodies. All the presentations will be live streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

The draft will be presented to the Downtown Development Authority at 10 a.m., Parks and Recreation Commission at 6 p.m. and Planning Commission at 7 p.m. All three meetings will be at City Hall. McKenna & Associates will also be presenting the draft to City Commission during the next commission meeting at 7 p.m. on Oct 14, according to the press release.

The Master Plan is meant to guide Mount Pleasant during the next three decades with policies regarding transportation, parks and recreation, infrastructure and public space, according to the Master Plan’s website. The formal adoption of the plan is expected to be in 2020.

Back in April, the city and McKenna & Associates held a four-day event where community members helped share their vision of Mount Pleasant in 2050, said the press release. Mount Pleasant City Planner, Jacob Kain, said these community members helped shape the draft plan.

"The bold vision established by this plan reflects the valuable input the community provided on Mount Pleasant’s strengths and opportunities,” said Mt. Pleasant City Planner Jacob Kain. "The hundreds of individuals who took part in this process set the direction and momentum which has ultimately shaped the draft plan. We are excited to take the next step in the planning process by introducing the draft plan to the community."
