All students, faculty and staff are invited to President Bob Davies’ first “State of the University” address at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 in Plachta Auditorium.

The address will cover successes and highlights from the past year, including a proposed course of action to overcome challenges in higher education. Additionally, Davies will expand on his proposed “Rigor, Relevance and Excellence” plan, which was first presented to the Board of Trustees in September.

The plan is a “strategic envisioning process” that outlines transforming the university by 2030, with a focus on engaging students, faculty, staff and university stakeholders. During the address, Davies will further introduce and elaborate on the plan’s five strategic pathways to create institutional change.

“We hope that attendees will leave feeling a sense of pride in CMU, optimism for our future, and an understanding of the role they can play on the path we take to move forward,” said Ceremonies and Events Coordinator Kyle Pybus-Jerome.

The previous address was delivered by former president George Ross in 2017, and the speech transcripts and video archives from the past four addresses can be found here.

Following the address, a reception will take place in the Bovee University Center Rotunda where attendees are welcome to mingle and help themselves to refreshments.
