Washington Post journalist and frequent CNN political contributor Wes Lowery will discuss his career and fake news at Central Michigan University.

He will do so during a presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 in the Bovee University Center Auditorium.

In 2016, Lowery published "They Can’t Kill Us All: Ferguson, Baltimore, and a New Era in America’s Racial Justice Movement," a book chronicling of the Black Lives Matter movement.

To companion his reporting, Lowery built a database that counts every police shooting in the U.S. which won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting.

Lowery's presentation is sponsored by the Department of Journalism and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Critical Engagements initiative. The project urges students and staff to engage in challenging contemporary topics.

This year's theme is "Fake News: What Do We Know and How Do We Know it?"
