A banner outside the Student Food Pantry notifies the community of the opening of the pantry on Nov. 19 near Robinson Hall.

The Student Food Pantry had to suspend its weekly distributions on March 25 to comply with new health and safety guidelines set forth by Governor Gretchen Whitmer's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order.

The last distribution was on March 23 before the announcement was sent out in the March 25 student newsletter.

In addition, the Market, located in East campus is temporarily closed to the public.

The only place left on campus to get a meal is from Fresh Food company. Students can now submit a boxed meal request form through Engage Central. Forms can be submitted once a day and meals are picked up in the loading duck behind Fresh between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

Alternatively, students can walk into Fresh for a carry-out breakfast, lunch and dinner at 7-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. respectively.

Students can also use community resources:

  • Community Compassion Network Pantry will be open April 1st from 2:00-6:00 pm and April 4th from 9 am-noon.
  • Max & Emily's, located downtown Mount Pleasant, is offering meals to people in need every day from 11:00 am- 2:00 pm.
  • Mt. Pleasant Public Schools is offering adult lunches for $2. Distributions are from 11:00 am- 1:00 pm Monday-Friday. Please park at the back of Mount Pleasant High School or Ganiard Elementary, and meals will be brought to your car.
