have to say
that I am very disturbed and unsettled by the relatively low show of
support on
our campus for our president and military retaliation compared to
the rest of
the country through the Your Voice section.

However, I am pleased that the people on our campus that feel
this way represent
a very small minority. Reliable polls show high support for our
president and
military actions. Polls show presidential approval ratings and
approval for our
retaliation are in the range of high 80s and 90 percent.

In addition, I know that bin Laden the Al-Qaida terror network and
the Taliban
have twisted and perverse reasons for the attack of our country, but
the hijackings
and attacks on the United States were not our fault as many Your
Voice writers
may have us believe.

Now, as for Mark Couterier, I have only one thing to say to him. Mr.
Couterier,
I respectfully disagree with your statements made on Oct. 8, 2001.
The hijackers
are NOT misunderstood. The hijackers are NOT freedom fighters.
The hijackers ARE
terrorists hiding behind their religion. What freedom was achieved
by attacking
our country? None.

I am glad that our country has united so strongly after we were
attacked and the
display of patriotism that we all have seen in the last month is very
refreshing.
I support President Bush. I support the United States military effort.
