Dodridge, live bats lead baseball team past Davenport in home opener

Seniors James Teas and Dale Cornstubble each collected two RBI hits in the first two innings.

It was all the run support necessary for sophomore left-hander Rick Dodridge, who picked up his first win in CMU’s 11-5 victory against Davenport in the baseball team’s home opener Tuesday at Theunissen Stadium.

Baseball team gets blanked by Hoosiers

The CMU baseball team was shut out 9-0 Sunday by Indiana to extend its losing streak to four games and end its Florida road trip.

The team had won four consecutive games before the skid started, including a three-game sweep of Central Florida last weekend in Orlando, Fla.

If women’s basketball team makes run in tournament, Houghton will be the reason

The CMU women’s basketball team hosts Ohio in its first-round Mid-American Conference tournament game at 5 p.m. Sunday at Rose Arena.

The Chippewas (11-17, 8-8 MAC) would love to have a first-round bye and head right to Cleveland (which is where the tournament is held), but hosting a first-round game could be just the thing the team needs.

Baseball team has three-game series with Central Florida

The CMU baseball team travels south to begin a three-game series Friday with Central Florida in Orlando, Fla.

The Chippewas come of their first win of the season, closing out the Bakersfield Tournament in California with a 3-1 win against St. Mary’s (Calif.).

Women’s basketball team loses to last-place WMU; will host first-round tournament game

0The road woes continued for the CMU women’s basketball team Saturday as it lost to Western Michigan 64-56 in Kalamzoo.
The Chippewas (11-16, 8-7 Mid-American Conference) had 22 turnovers and could not get it going offensively.

Now, it will have to try to use that loss as fuel to its fire as the season nears its end.
