Clark chats with 20 Honors students

Private forum addresses current issues

Ret. Gen. Wesley Clark said 20 Honors students could change the world. Before Clark took to the podium at his speech Monday night, he participated in a private Honors Program forum Monday in Powers 138. Clark opened the forum by asking for the students' names, majors and interests.

Washington Internship Program informational meeting on Wednesday

Joshua Yates from the Washington Internship Program will visit CMU on Wednesday to educate students on their program. Yates, who will visit campus from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Bovee University Center Chippewa room, travels to a number of college campuses to inform students of the Washington Internship Program.

SGA approves foreign language resolutions

The Student Government Association wants to bring Mandarin Chinese and Arabic courses to campus. "In my opinion, a school has to have these languages to be competitive," said Jessica O'Higgins, White Lake senior and SGA senator. O'Higgins said Western Michigan University offers an abundance of foreign language classes in comparison to CMU, including Arabic and Chinese.

Baby-sitting training registration ends Thursday

Canton freshman Courteney Bachus has been baby-sitting for seven years. She said baby-sitting is an incredibly important job, and needs people willing to put in the extra effort. "It's important for them (the baby-sitter) to be responsible," Bachus said.

Showcase to feature various Asian cultures

Most students have not visited China or Japan, but today they can experience eastern Asian culture without leaving campus at the Asian Heritage Month Showcase. "If students can't go to that country or continent, at least we can bring a little bit of the culture to them," said Jessica Porritt, Grand Blanc sophomore and member of the Asian group 12 C.

Silent film communicates through American Sign Language

Silence filled the Bovee University Center Auditorium on Monday night - but that didn't mean nothing was said. The American Sign Language Society hosted the showing of "Forget Me Not," an American Sign Language (ASL) film. Communication throughout the movie was conducted solely through ASL.
