Police continue to look for a man who committed strong-armed robbery against an 18-year-old female CMU student Friday night.
The incident took place around 10:30 p.m. Friday near some pine trees in front of Beddow Hall at the northeast corner of Washington and Broomfield streets. It happened as people were leaving the T-Pain concert from Rose Arena.
"There were witnesses on campus when the incident occurred," said Steve Smith, director of media relations. "We are hoping someone will come forward and help us out."
Strong-armed are classified as unarmed robberies.
The victim suffered minor scrapes and bruises from the incident and reported it to police, officials said.
Central Michigan University Police Chief Stan Dinius said on Sunday police have no new information on the incident, but hopes students will come forward with anything pertaining to the incident.
According to a press release from Dean of Students Bruce Roscoe, the suspect is a 6-foot-tall, thin black male. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a navy blue sweatshirt with a Nike logo on the front and a V-shaped tear around the neck area.
"Whenever anything like this happens, it is a good opportunity to remind students of the buddy system," Smith said.
Smith said students should take a friend with them and be aware of their surroundings when out at night, regardless of whether there are large groups of people nearby.
Anyone with any information about the incident should contact the CMU Police at 774-3081.

A 6 ft tall thin black male. Thats a fairly vague description. So does that mean that all black men 6 ft tall and considered thin are suspects.....Good old CMU at it again

CMU should maybe have more programs for young women to talk about the dangers of walking alone. So many people feel safe on campus and make decisions based on that. (Continued…)
