Before T-Pain hit the stage in Central Michigan University's Rose Arena on Friday, people from around the state hit the road.

T-Pain's show was the main event for this year's Hip-Hop Weekend, selling out his first venue and forcing him into Rose, where the extra tickets also all were sold.

Careful planning by sponsors, On the Fly Productions and Program Board, turned the finale into a memorable night for some.

The idea of this event had people from all over the state excited.

"My cousin called me as a surprise to go, because T-Pain is my favorite artist," said Carin Greiner, a Grand Valley State freshman from Hart.

Others learned about the show in different ways.

"I found out about the concert from Facebook," said Logan Welch of Flushing, who is a freshman at Saginaw Valley State University.

Although some traveled for hours, many said it all seemed worthwhile.

It took Jessica Ross, a CMU alumna from St. Clair Shores, two hours and 15 minutes to get from the Detroit area to Mount Pleasant.

"It was fun to go out and do something different and plus the price was only $12," she said. "It was fun times and I got to hang out with all my friends."

Former CMU student Jordan Kryscio said he thought the show was well worth the trip from Ann Arbor, where he is a freshman at University of Michigan.

"It was cool and doesn't happen every day," Kryscio said.

The two-hour concert finished with many people describing the show as fantastic, exciting, energetic and cool.

When asked if they would travel this far for another concert, many in attendance replied with a definite 'yes.'

"Central Michigan University is pretty good in putting shows together," Kryscio said. "They do good in knowing what the people want and always have the big performances."
