The women's club soccer team lost a trio of games this weekend against in-state opponents.
CMU lost 4-0 to Michigan and 2-0 to Grand Valley on Sunday, and 2-1 to Michigan State on Friday.
Sunday's game against U-M had a bleak start for CMU.
U-M scored in the fourth and 11th minutes to take a 2-0 lead. CMU then got going, bringing the ball up the field and sending crosses looking for a goal. U-M took back control of the game, however, and scored two second-half goals within 10 minutes to put the game away.
"I think we come out flat every time," said sophomore Erica Lemm.
Earlier Sunday the team was plagued by an early deficit. GVSU scored a crucial goal in the final minute of the first half to take a 2-0 lead.
"Basically, first half we were not awake; we weren't all together," Lemm said. "Second half we played a lot better."
Sophomore Caitlyn Bifoss said the team's chances were squandered away.
"We had so many opportunites, we just couldn't finish," Bifoss said.
On Friday, it looked like CMU might upset national tournament hopeful MSU.
Junior Chelsea Kenny scored halfway through the first half to give CMU a 1-0 lead. MSU tied the score in the final minutes of the first half and took a 2-1 second-half lead to win.
