Austin Sykes ran for a career-high 124 yards with two touchdowns Saturday as the RedHawks rolled past the Falcons on a day in which Miami honored former quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Redshirt freshman Eugene Harris scored his first two career touchdowns, while Falcons quarterback Tyler Sheehan was sacked six times and was limited to only 140 yards passing.

The victory put Miami into a first-place tie in Mid-American Conference's East Division with Buffalo.

Kalvin McRae ran for 170 yards on 32 carries and quarterback Brad Bower threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as the Bobcats broke a four-game losing streak against the Eagles.

The Bobcats had a 28-0 first-half lead before nearly collapsing to the Eagles, who were led by Brad Bower. Bower passed for 210 yards and four touchdowns and also led the Eagles with 55 rushing yards.

Western Michigan 17, Northern Illinois 13

Tim Hiller completed 20-of-29 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown Saturday as the Broncos slipped past Northern Illinois.

The performance put him over the 3,000 yard mark for his career, helping WMU to a big MAC West Division win.

The Huskies held a 13-10 lead until the third quarter, when Hiller found Brandon Ledbetter for a score and the lead.

Hiller, the 2005 MAC Freshman of the Year, eclipsed the 3,000 yard milestone on a 29-yard pass to Jamarko Simmons with two minutes left in the third quarter. NIU lost its third straight game.

Buffalo 43, Toledo 33

James Starks ran for 231 yards as the Bulls defeated the Rockets to earn their first win streak this season.

It marked the first time in 11 years a Buffalo player rushed for more than 200 yards in a game. The teams combined for 953 yards of total offense.

With Miami's win on Saturday, the Bulls now are tied for first in the East Division, a position they've not been accustomed to over the last five years.
