"Dead Famous" ghost hunter, Chris Fleming will take students on an actual ghost hunt around Mount Pleasant following his lecture Thursday.
Fleming, host of The Biography Channel's television show "Dead Famous: Ghostly Encounters," will present clips from his show and discuss his encounters with the dead with the audience during his visit to campus later this week.
Program Board expects an audience of 500 to come watch the 8 p.m. show Thursday in Warriner Hall's Plachta Auditorium. Afterward, Fleming will select a group of 40 to accompany him on a haunted tour of Mount Pleasant to hunt down spiritual activity.
"He is the real deal, he senses paranormal activity," said Carolyn Seppey, cultural and special events chair for PB.
Seppey, a Sterling Heights senior said Fleming's visit is an alternative way to commemorate Halloween.
Fleming is a "medium," a person who is capable of communicating with the forces of the unknown - also referred to as spirits, ghosts, or poltergeists. Fleming said he noticed he had these gifts at a young age.
He eventually founded a magazine called "Unknown Magazine: Real Experiences of Unknown Phenomenon," where he documented his experiences with the dead.
Fleming co-hosts the Biography Channel program with Gail Porter in which the two investigate various famous haunted locations that have taken claim of the lives of celebrities.
Lindsey Kadolph, a West Olive sophomore, said she is skeptical of Fleming's ability.
But she won't be attending the lecture on Thursday to find out for herself.
"I get really scared," she said.
