Alexis Lonneman continued her stellar play Tuesday with 29 digs to lead the volleyball team to a 3-1 win against Oakland University in Rochester.

Lonneman was coming off a career-high 36 digs in the Chippewas' five-game loss to Miami University. Lonnneman now is averaging a team-high 4.7 digs per game.

The sophomore libero helped Central Michigan get a much-needed win against the Grizzlies in four games (30-17, 30-25, 23-30 and 30-26). The win was CMU's second in its last seven games and first on the road since Sept. 28th against Northern Illinois.

Lonneman has been playing the best volleyball of her young career and is hoping to carry that into the rest of the Mid-American Conference schedule.

"I do feel more comfortable on the court," Lonneman said. "I've been a lot more confident out there lately."

The Chippewas continued to serve well, recording 15 aces with only 16 errors.

Coach Erik Olson said he felt like his team got beat badly in game three and was pleased to get an outstanding contribution from senior Courtney Kersten in the deciding game four.

"Courtney brought in great fire and enthusiasm in game four," Olson said. "I didn't like the way it was going, but she turned things around for us."

Junior middle blocker Whitney Evers recorded 13 kills and a team-leading .385 hitting percentage. CMU's kill leader, Kate Fissel, added 21 kills to her season total.

CMU continues to get contributions from its freshmen as Lauren Krupsky and Sam Otte notched nine and seven kills, respectively.

Central Michigan attempts to put a winning streak together when it takes the floor this weekend at Rose Arena against Akron and Buffalo.

Evers said if the Chippewas are to build on Tuesday's success, they will need to play with confidence.

"It's really good to get a win and build confidence," Evers said. "When this team plays with confidence, it's unbeatable."

The Chippewas are tied for third in the MAC West Division with Eastern Michigan are four games behind of divison-leading Western Michigan.
