The Student Government Association's House and Senate both want to see a university-funded study of campus traffic and parking.

However, because the House and Senate approved different versions of the resolution Monday night, it must go to a conference committee this week to be finalized.

That means the resolution will be discussed again and voted on next week.

"They both agree on the idea of it," said Mike Zeig, Sterling Heights senior and SGA president.

The committee will consist of Katie Dykehouse, Spring Lake junior and SGA vice president; Brad Sjoquist, Kingsford senior and House leader; Paul Pridgeon, Montgomery junior and Senate leader; and two representatives and two senators.

Clarence Richardson, Milan senior, said he wanted to strike the second resolved clause in the resolution because it implied that SGA was OK with looking into spending money on the study.

"The primary was to allow using student money and let them know it was OK," Richardson. "If we would have left the second clause in we would let them know it was OK to use the money and we wouldn't even view the findings."

In addition to the traffic and parking study, two separate textbook resolutions also were approved at Monday's SGA meeting.

The first resolution encourages faculty to use the same textbook and edition from year to year as long as it still is appropriate and asks faculty to be aware of the costs of course materials before ordering them.
