Coach Jones offers motivation

Teamwork and motivation were the subjects of Butch Jones' speech Wednesday afternoon.
The head football coach spoke during the Leadership Institute's luncheon in Powers Hall.
"The big thing is all the different things that go into leadership and being able to lead," Jones said.
Jones stressed motivational methods in developing good teamwork. Each week, Jones said, he creates a theme for the team to keep them working together.
"I learned much about motivation, like with all those themes; I've seen it work before and they keep you going," said freshman Dom Huerta.
Jones discussed five main points of building teamwork as a leader: creating an atmosphere with great trust and respect, making the things you are doing important for the individuals, having good character, being patient and looking to the right people.
"I learned motivation is very important," said freshman Evan Agnello. "I believe his stories are really entertaining. It was very interesting to find out what actually happens inside the locker room and off the field."
Jones also spoke about other leadership attributes, such as accountability and self-evaulation.
"A big thing is focus and you have to know your people and know their personality," Jones said.
Jones also gave insight on what being a Chippewa means. Jones said he requires the football players to wear CMU colors to reinforce school pride on campus.
Jones also talked about the impact student fans have on the team.
"I love our student section," he said. "You have no idea what that student section does to our team."
