Mad scientists, space aliens and man-made transvestites will sing and dance at the Broadway Theatre this weekend.
The theatre fraternity Alpha Psi Omega will perform "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" from 8 p.m. until midnight Friday and Saturday in downtown Mount Pleasant.
The show, a parody of horror and science fiction films, is about two clean-cut people named Brad Majors and his fiancée Janet Weiss, who have car trouble and wind up in the house of doctor Frank 'N' Furter who is in the midst of birthing his creation - Rocky.
Eric Sprott, a senior from Ewen and president of Alpha Psi Omega said there will not be any significant changes made to the plays.
"(The) main difference is the cast will be slightly different," he said.
Based on past performances, Alpha Psi Omega is expecting sold-out crowds at each show.
Members of the audience often dress up as characters, sing, dance and throw objects at the people performing the stage play.
Regular attendees have their own stories to share about the "Rocky Horror" experience.
Corey Petee, La Salle junior has attended in the past.
"I didn't dress up because I'm self-conscious about the stuff that are usually worn, but I love going to see all the different costumes," he said. "They have a costume contest with awards going to best costume."
Petee said he loves the atmosphere during the event.
"People are really open-minded about some of the quotes," he said. "The best part is when everyone gets up and dances to the 'Time Warp.'"
Brock Sieb, Monroe junior, said he has a great time every year he goes.
"A group of my friends dressed up in Halloween costumes," he said. "It's off the wall in there. It's a fun place where everyone can just unwind and have fun for the night. My favorite part is when the audience say quotes with the performance, that's what makes it all worthwhile."
Tickets cost $4 and are available at friendsofthebroadway.org.
