Singer/songwriter Jason Reeves had his Michigan debut Monday night.
But for most of his audience, the performance in Moore Hall's Townsend Kiva wasn't an introduction.
Many of the 150 people who attended said they'd heard of Reeves before, either through his MySpace.com page or through other means.
Pewamo senior Gavin Pohl said he has been following Reeves' music for a year.
"I think he's an amazing musician, and funny at that," Pohl said. "It's not often that you find someone with a personality."
Many students said they were impressed by Reeves' sense of humor and his interaction during his show.
"I like how he took suggestions from the audience," said Dorr sophomore Jami L. Smith.
Reeves corrected an audience member who requested one of his songs by the wrong name.
His song, "The Sun Shines on Everything," has often been mistakenly called "Beautiful."
Reeves was one of Program Board's top choices to bring to Central Michigan University.
"I was very happy with the turnout. It was nearly filled," said Marysville senior Haley Rank, Program Board concert chair. "My adviser showed me a lot of different artists, and I heard Reeves and really liked him - he had a nice acoustic sound."
Reeves said he was impressed with the concert's location. The room atmosphere was just right, he said.
The atmosphere also appealed to Horton senior Maurice Page II.
"I thought (Reeves) did really well, and I liked the small, relaxed setting," Page said.
Heather Garren, a Texas sophomore, was impressed by the show.
"It sounded even better live than on the computer," Garren said.
One of the few audience member who didn't know about Reeves was Troy junior Courtney Hamilton.
This is the type of music she listens to, she said.
"I thought he was a great performer, and I'm going to definitely be listening to him in the future," she said.

This show was amazing, and Jason does sound better in person. Although I got lost on the way to Central and ended up missing most of the show, the few songs I did see were well worth the drive. (Continued…)
