Sheriff urges residents to be alert during deer season
Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski is reminding motorists the deer population is on the move. Because of this, there is a heightened chance of a deer/car crash occurring. He said there were more than 60,000 deer related accidents in Michigan last year, so motorists should look beyond headlights for the eyes of deer that may be near the vehicle's path. Mioduszewski also warns the danger of erratically swerving to miss deer as it may cause loss of vehicle control. The best way to avoid a collision is to slow down, flash the headlights and beep the horn, he said.
