CMU Basketball
Rose Rowdie Fright Night
Central Michigan University men's and women's basketball teams will host Rose Rowdie Fright Night from 8:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. today in Rose Arena. Those who attend will get to meet the basketball teams and coaches Ernie Zeigler and Sue Guevara. There will be free T-shirts, food and contests. The first 3,000 students receive extra free goodies. The basketball teams will be involved in some interactive games with students, including a dunk contest. Rowdie, the mascot, also will have goodie bags for children who attend the event. The event is sponsored by Central Michigan Athletics, the CMU Bookstore and Central Michigan Life.

School of Music
Bobby Chen will teach piano class
Bobby Chen will teach a master class at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Music Building's Chamichian Hall. Chen is an internationally-known pianist. Piano students will prepare and play a piece of music and Chen will critique their work. Although Chen is teaching a master class to students. The event is open to the public. Admission is free. Chen attended the Royal Academy of Music where he won awards and scholarships including the Yamaha Europen Foundation Scholarship. Chen made his concert debut in 1998 with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has traveled through most of Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Japan and the United States. His repertoire includes popular names like Beethoven, Stravinsky, Mozart and Mendelssohn.

Volunteer Central
Alternative Break sign up starts soon
Students can sign up for an alternative spring break starting at 9 a.m. Friday. Students can sign up by going online to the Volunteer Central Web site. If students have trouble signing up they should call Volunteer Central at 774-7685. Students can pick from 12 issues for which they can volunteer through, 11 of them are domestic and one is international. Signup is also available for a Nov. 9 - 11 alternative weekend trip to Grand Rapids. The issues students will deal with on the Alternative Weekend will be parks and recreation and hunger.
