Facebook bumps out MySpace as college students' favorite Web site, according to a recent study.

Anderson Analytics, a company out of Stamford, Conn., conducted a "Back to School" survey between Aug. 8 and Aug. 31.

The survey tested 1,000 students from 375 different colleges and universities across the United States on their favorite brands, said Tom Anderson, managing partner.

"(The survey) is an exploratory study to gain an overall snapshot of how today's college students view the market," Anderson said.

Students at CMU said the study's findings are right on target.

Haslett freshman Abby Wood said Facebook has completely changed the way people interact.

Topics included: favorite book, favorite fast-food restaurant, favorite clothing brand and favorite Web site.

"I think Facebook is the best way to connect with other students at your own college," said Grosse Pointe freshman Elissa Bogosian. "It's really a great way for students to meet more people."

Danielle Waller said she found the survey matched up well with what she thinks college students like.

"I definitely agree Johnny Depp should be the No. 1 celebrity," the Saint Clair senior said. "He's just awesome."

Wood was really excited to see Taco Bell topping the list for best fast-food restaurant.

"I totally agree with Taco Bell being No. 1," she said. "I love that place."

Bogosian was not at all surprised to see the iPod was the No. 1 choice for MP3 players by a large percentage.

"My iPod is great," she said. "It's the only thing I use to go work out and it's always with me when I'm walking to class."

Waller said she did not think People Magazine should have beat out Cosmopolitan.

"I like People better because I can read more in it," she said.

The top two favorite clothing brands didn't match up with Wood's favorites either.

"I really don't care that much about Old Navy or American Eagle," Wood said. "I actually really like a brand called American Rag. I've only ever found it at Macy's."
