Sun Devils, Oregon on collision course
No. 4 Arizona State (8-0) at No. 5 Oregon (7-1)
Time: 6:40 p.m. Saturday
Stadium: Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Ore. (59,000), FieldTurf
Line: Oregon by 7.5
TV: ESPN
Overview: Neither one of these teams were ranked in the preseason. But in the 10th week of the season, both the Sun Devils and Ducks are in the running for a Pac-10 title and a birth into the BCS National Championship.
The Ducks have been lead all season by Heisman Trophy candidate Dennis Dixon, who has 1,885 yards passing with 16 touchdowns, as well as 492 yards rushing with eight touchdowns this season. The Devils are the final ranked team the Ducks will face in the regular season. With a win, the Ducks could nearly coast to the Bowl Championship Series game.
As for the Sun Devils, first-year coach Dennis Erickson's quarterback is Rudy Carpenter, who has thrown for 1,949 yards and 17 touchdowns, despite a sprained thumb on his throwing hand. Both teams are in the top 20 in scoring, possibly creating a shootout Saturday.
No. 12 Michigan (7-2) at Michigan State (5-4)
Time: 3:30 p.m. Saturday
Stadium: Spartan Stadium, East Lansing (75,000), Grass
Line: Michigan by 4.5
TV: ABC
Overview: This could be a seemingly easy win for the Wolverines, who have reeled off seven straight victories after losing two to Appalachian State and Oregon. Michael Hart, the Heisman candidate who has been the leader of Michigan's offense, is expected to return along with starting quarterback Chad Henne in the 100th in-state showdown with Michigan State at Spartan Stadium.
The Spartans have struggled to get any type of rhythm going in Big Ten play. The last time the Spartans beat Michigan was in 2001 in East Lansing. Quarterback Brian Hoyer has been a bright spot for MSU and most likely will pass the 2,000 yard mark Saturday. Javon Ringer leads the Spartans with 1,084 yards with six touchdowns this season.
