Voters on Tuesday rejected the Mount Pleasant City Commission's rezoning proposal for 157 acres at the southwest corner of Broomfield and Crawford roads.

There were 1,112 people who voted against the proposal, while 610 voted 'yes.'

The 'no' vote means the parcel of land will return to the rezoning it was originally part of - a planned residential development.
