RESULTS
Calling all activists
RESULTS, a non-profit organization, will come to campus today to teach students how to become more effective citizen activists. The organization's goal is to create political will to end hunger and poverty in the U.S. and abroad. Southfield junior Portia McIntosh is student coordinator for Advocacy Central and works to get students involved. "RESULTS doesn't deal with candidates. They have certain issues that they are concerned with like poverty, HIV and education for all," she said. The group is looking for students to get involved and who can start a group at Central Michigan University. There will be a meeting at 7 p.m. today in the Bovee University Center Maroon, Gold and Chippewa rooms.

Tuesday vote on land use
The city of Mount Pleasant has an election on Tuesday with polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Residents will vote on a rezoning proposal for 157 acres near Broomfield and Crawford roads, the selection of two school board candidates and selecting people for two city commission posts.

Harris retained as editor-in-chief
Central Michigan Life editor-in-chief David Harris will return to his position for another semester. The Student Media Board of Directors selected the Flint senior for the second time on Friday. Harris said he hopes to continue the excellent quality of reporting showcased in the newspaper during the fall semester. He said he is honored and excited to have the opportunity to continue to lead the CM Life staff.

Show helps charity
"Friendly Feud: A Cause for Paws" will take place at from 9 to 11 p.m. today at The Cabin, 930 W. Broomfield Road. The event is a "Family Feud" style game show hosted by students from the RPL 430: Recreation Programming class. Pre-registered teams of three will compete for prizes in a single-elimination game. The game also features raffles and giveaways for audience members. Some of the prizes include Detroit Lions tickets, Detroit Pistons tickets and gift certificates to local restaurants. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Humane Animal Treatment Society. HATS is dedicated to helping animals receive proper care and strengthening others' knowledge about animals through fundraisers for the Isabella County Animal Shelter, community activities and events.
