Monday, Nov. 2, 1987
Twenty points in the fourth quarter lifted the Chippewas over the Broncos, 30-27, in front of 25,151 fans Oct. 30 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
The win against Western was Central's fifth in a row and 11th against the Broncos.
CMU's defense gave up just three points in the second half after giving up 24 in the first half. Tailback John Hood ran for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Monday, Nov. 18, 1991
The football team beat rival Western Michigan 27-17 on Nov. 16 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
Kicker Chuck Selinger hit a 37-yard field goal with just 3 minutes, 36 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give CMU a 20-17 lead. Running back Scott White gave CMU an insurance touchdown after another WMU turnover.
The Chippewas intercepted Western's quarterbacks three times late in the game to preserve the victory.
Monday, Nov. 13, 2000
CMU team pulled a huge upset Nov. 11 by beating rival Western Michigan 21-17 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
Ira Gooch opened the scoring by going 77 yards on a screen pass from quarterback Derrick Vickers.
CMU took an early 14-0 lead after Vickers threw another touchdown pass to David Hannah in front of 26,000 fans.
Western Michigan scored 17 unanswered points to take the lead with just more than 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but Vince Webber scored to give CMU the win.
