Baker to speak in Anspach
The Health Professions Residential College is sponsoring a presentation by Dr. Bessheen Baker at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Anspach 162. The lecture, titled "Alternative Medicine: The Naturopathic Approach," is free. Two chair massages at Herbs, etc. will be raffled during the event. Herbs, etc. is a Santa Fe retailer that provides herbal remedies to heal a variety of ailments.

Organization offers art and gifts for purchase
Art Reach of Mid Michigan will host Art Mart starting today and lasting until Dec. 24. The event will feature work from local artists and holiday gifts. Art Mart will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Art Reach of Mid Michigan, 319 S. University St., is a non-profit organization designed to promote a better understanding and appreciation of the arts in mid Michigan.

Faculty groups to perform classical music
The Eclectic Trio and the Crescent Duo will perform recently composed pieces Tuesday at the Staples Family Concert Hall. Tickets are $3 for students and senior citizens and $5 for the general public and can be purchased at the Bovee University Center's Central Box Office. The groups are comprised of music professors Joanna Cowan White, flute; Kennen White, clarinet; John Nichol, saxophone and Andrew Spencer, percussion.

Event will benefit local school
Students from the RPL 430: Recreation Programming class will host "Are You Smarter Than A Professor?" from 9 to 11 p.m. Monday at The Cabin, 930 W. Broomfield Road. The event is a spin-off of the game show "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" Participants will answer questions about animals, technology, sports, geography, current events, pop culture, academics and miscellaneous topics. Anyone who purchases a $4 ticket will have a chance to be randomly selected from the audience to play or to play in a floor quiz. A ticket does not guarantee a place in the game. Professors will write their answer to a question; their answers are compared against the contestants' answers. The event also features a 50/50 raffle drawing. Prizes for the contestants and the raffle will include Red Wings tickets, an outdoor grill and gift certificates to local businesses. All proceeds from the event will benefit the general fund at McGuire Elementary School, 4883 E. Crosslanes Road.
