Sue Guevara didn't spend much time enjoying the women's basketball team's 76-71 win Friday against Illinois-Chicago.
As happy as she was for the players to win a close game, she said she knows CMU now must focus on its next opponent - Temple.
CMU turns its attention to its first road game of the season today against Temple.
"We're going to work on our offense because Temple is going to pressure us full-court," Guevara said. "We'll be working on the press breaker and we're going to work on our rebounding."
Temple was a No. 8 seed last season in the NCAA tournament, losing to then-No. 1 Duke by 10 points. The Owls boast a strong front court led by senior center Lady Comfort, who was named to the Preseason All Atlantic 10 first team.
Facing Temple could be an intimidating matchup for a somewhat youthful CMU team. But junior Latisha Luckett said the team's younger players are confident.
"They don't even look scared at all," Luckett said. "They look like they've been playing for years."
