The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is widely considered to be the biggest bar night of the year.

So go out and enjoy the night.

But make sure your safety isn't pushed aside after having those homecoming drinks.

As any other night at the bar or night of drinking, make sure there's a sober ride home - be it a taxi or a friend. Don't take the chance driving if you're not sober. Don't take the chance driving if you're distracted or tired from all of this weekend's tryptophan and family schmoozing.

Otherwise family and friends might not be giving thanks this week.

Also be sure not to leave a drink unattended and always go out with a group of friends.

However, don't let the stress of being cautious overtake the whole night of fun. Just make sure you plan everything out beforehand, because we all know how well we function after we've had alcohol in us.

And it's really not that hard. It only involves planning where you'll be, how you'll get there and back, and who you'll be with.

Don't drink more than you can handle Wednesday night. Because who wants to be hungover and dealing with family on Thanksgiving Day?

Thanksgiving's previous night of partying isn't the only time to be concerned. Traveling to and from Thanksgiving destinations is also important. Be sure safety is also being taken into consideration in that aspect.

Stay focused on the road on your way back and stay home an extra night if you're too tired.

It's Michigan and who knows what the weather will be like? If it snows or gets a little icy, don't hurt others trying to get back to classes.

Seriously, you guys know what you'd really like to say, and it would probably be closer to the truth if it were more like the following:

The night before Thanksgiving is a top bar night of the year. (Continued…)
